Schooner Simplicity offers tours of Penobscot Bay and beyond

The boat is ideal size for families or small parties to relax on a private cruise. On a full day charter, Captain McClellan can bring guests to have lunch on a nearby island or at a coastal town. You may choose to have a picnic lunch (bring your own or we can provide) onboard, and simply spend the day sailing the beautiful waters. Schooner Simplicity’s Story

SIMPLICITY is a 35’ pinky type hatch fishing schooner. These boats filled New England harbors from Block Island to Newfoundland in the 19th century and before.

SIMPLICITY was designed in 1911 by William Hand, designer of the Aric exploration schooner Bowdoin, as well as numerous other schooners, motorsailers, and the famed "Vhull" motorboats. Come aboard and relive maritime history!

SIMPLICITY was built in 1982 by Paul Rollins, in York, Maine, for Jim Crawford. Crawford is an accomplished blue water yachtsman who sailed the globe in noted schooners and cutters. Sail this small ship that takes care of herself and her crew.

Captain Mark McClellan

Captain McClellan has been building and sailing wooden boats for over twenty five years. He has sailed extensively from Nova Scotia to South America. He holds U.S. Coast Guard license certification.
